What are treatment methods?
Treatment methods - also called modalities, frameworks, or approaches - are like the lenses therapists use to view and address different types of challenges people face.

I take an "eclectic" approach, meaning I tailor my work with each client to their unique circumstances, so often that means trying out or combining different lenses to work through. Along the way, clients will gain tools and knowledge that can be applied right away to begin their individual change processes.
My clients describe my approach in sessions as solution-oriented and challenging. I can be very direct and assign tasks for clients to do between sessions, but this is also up to the client and their specific needs and preferences. I ensure we have time to hold space for and process through emotions and their root causes, so that you may gain a deeper understanding of why they exist.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an evidence based approach to treating a variety of mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. CBT helps clients by identifying patterns of thoughts and behavior, analyzing these patterns to determine which are helpful/realistic and which are unhelpful/unrealistic, and then reframing thoughts and replacing behaviors to improve well-being. During this process, clients learn about triggers for their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors and how those are connected to overall functioning. Clients also walk away from sessions with coping skills and tools to apply to their daily lives.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps people heal from trauma and distressing life experiences. It works by helping your brain process these memories in a way that reduces their emotional impact. During an EMDR session, I'll guide you through a series of eye movements or other forms of gentle, rhythmic bilateral stimulation while you focus on a specific memory. This process helps your brain reframe and integrate the memory, allowing you to move forward with less distress and more resilience.
